Rutgers University Foundation's Bequest/Beneficiary Language

In order to make a bequest or designation to Rutgers in your estate plan, we encourage you to speak with your attorney. We also encourage you to work with the Rutgers Estate & Gift Planning staff to ensure the language will fully implement your charitable goals. We have provided some basic language to assist you and your attorney.

To complement this language, we also use gift and fund agreements that create more specific directions to Rutgers to make certain we fulfill your wishes regarding your legacy.

1. Beneficiary Designation/Transfer on Death/Payable on Death Designation

Primary Beneficiary: Rutgers University Foundation

Tax ID Number: 23-7318742
Relationship: Charity

2. Specific Bequest

If you are considering making an outright bequest to Rutgers University Foundation, we recommend the following language:

Bequest of a Specific Dollar Amount

I hereby give, devise and bequeath _________ and No/100 dollars ($DOLLARS) to Rutgers University Foundation, a nonprofit organization located at 335 George Street, Suite 4000, New Brunswick, NJ, 08901, Federal Tax ID #23-7318742, for Rutgers University's general use and purposes or as I may further restrict for charitable and educational purposes by written agreement signed by Rutgers University Foundation and me.

Bequest of Specific Personal Property

I hereby give, devise and bequeath DESCRIPTION OF PROPERTY if owned by me at the time of my death, to Rutgers University Foundation, a nonprofit organization located at 335 George Street, Suite 4000, New Brunswick, NJ, 08901, Federal Tax ID #23-7318742, for Rutgers University's general use and purposes or as I may further restrict for charitable and educational purposes by written agreement signed by Rutgers University Foundation and me.

Bequest of Specific Real Estate

I hereby give, devise and bequeath all of the right, title and interest in and to the real estate located at ADDRESS OR DESCRIPTION OF PROPERTY, if owned by me at the time of my death, to Rutgers University Foundation, a nonprofit organization located at 335 George Street, Suite 4000, New Brunswick, NJ, 08901, Federal Tax ID #23-7318742, for Rutgers University's general use and purposes or as I may further restrict for charitable and educational purposes by written agreement signed by Rutgers University Foundation and me.

(If you intend to leave real estate to the Foundation, please consult with us regarding whether it is an asset the Foundation is permitted to accept.)

3. Residual Bequest

I hereby give, devise and bequeath to Rutgers University Foundation, a nonprofit organization located at 335 George Street, Suite 4000, New Brunswick, NJ, 08901, Federal Tax ID #23-7318742, ALL OR A PERCENTAGE of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate to be used for Rutgers University's general use and purposes or as I may further restrict for charitable and educational purposes by written agreement signed by Rutgers University Foundation and me.

4. Contingent Bequest

If (primary beneficiary) does not survive me, then I hereby give, devise and bequeath to Rutgers University Foundation, a nonprofit organization located at 335 George Street, Suite 4000, New Brunswick, NJ, 08901, Federal Tax ID #23-7318742, DESCRIPTION OF PROPERTY to be used for Rutgers University's general use and purposes or as I may further restrict for charitable and educational purposes by written agreement signed by Rutgers University Foundation and me.
